Jupiter: Magnetosphere

The powerful magnetic is dipolar (like the Earth) at distances greater than 3 times the radius of Jupiter (3RJ). However, closer to the planet the magnetic field is much more complex featuring quadrupole and octopole components superimposed on the dipolar field - like harmonics on a musical scale.

Strength at cloudtops 4.2 gauss

10 x Earth

Inclination 10.8º with respect to the rotational axis
Polarity Opposite to Earth.

That is to say that if a terrestrial magnetic compass were taken to Jupiter it would point to the south pole.
