- Whilst precautions have been taken to prevent the spread of computer viruses and other malicious codes, the publisher can accept no responsibility for their propagation or any damage to the user's equipment however caused. It is the user's responsibility to verify the cleanliness of the eBook by scanning with their own anti-virus software.
- for eBooks on CD-ROM: The mechanical attributes of the CD have been checked by the publisher prior to dispatch. However, it is the user's responsibility to check for mechanical defects on the CD, (e.g. scratches, torn label) as the publisher can take no responsibility for any damage to the user's equipment however caused. Nor for the failure of this eBook to be read due to such mechanical defects.
- The ebook can only be used on computers using the Windows® operating system.
- The eBook must be registered on a specific PC.
- The user may apply for two registration keys every year free of charge. This is to enable the book to be used on two PC's (e.g. a desktop and a laptop) and that these may be upgraded/repaired as required. For every registration key above this limit, an additional fee will be payable.
- The publisher reserves the right not to issue additional registration keys for any reason. This would come into force if it is suspected that a fraudulent request has been made. It may also come into force for technical reasons. This eBook can be used on any Windows® operating system from Windows 95® and up to and including Windows Vista®. However, the publisher can not predict if it will work on future versions. It is the publisher's intention to work around such problems but ultimately the publisher can not be held responsible if technical problems prevent this.
- The publisher recognises the right of the buyer to change their mind. Under normal trading conditions this period is reckoned to be 14 days. The registration procedure is a multi-stage process deliberatly inteneded to provide change-of-mind points. Firstly, the eBook needs to be requested by the user and either sent in the post or downloaded. Secondly, the eBook can be evaluated for as long as required. Thirdly, a registration key needs to be requested. However, once the registration key has been issued, the deal is finalised and no further refund can be made. This is because the unscrupulous user, once in possession of the registration key, could read the book from cover to cover, make notes and then unfairly demand a refund. Therefore, it is a condition of sale that the moment registration is requested both parties agree that the deal has been clinched.
- Any refund will be made to the buyer through PayPal.
- Every endeavor will be made to resolve any dispute before either party resorts to costly legal action. However, any legal representation shall be made under English Law, for the purpose of which any contracts, verbal or otherwise shall be deemed to be made in Wigton, Cumbria.
- Geoffrey Lindop is a sole proprietor trading as Mercianotes. For further information email geoffrey @ mercianotes or write to Mercianotes, PO Box 105, Wigton CA7 5WB.
